Railo — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 July 2026
Railo is a live train-tracking app for Indian Railways. We built it privacy-first: no
account, no ads, no third-party tracking. This policy explains what the app does and does
not do with data.
Information we collect
- No account, no personal profile. Railo does not require sign-in and
does not collect your name, email, phone number, or any personal identifiers.
- On-device only: your saved trains and recent searches are stored
solely on your device, never transmitted to us, and deleted when you remove them or
uninstall the app.
- Queries you make: when you view live status, schedules, search, find
trains between stations, or view a station board, the app sends the relevant train
number, station codes, and journey date to our backend to fetch railway data. These
requests contain no personal information about you.
- Technical data: our backend temporarily processes standard request
metadata (IP address, timestamp, endpoint) to keep the service reliable and prevent
abuse. We do not use it to identify you or build a profile, and never sell or share it
for advertising.
Third-party services
- RailKit — our backend uses RailKit, a third-party Indian Railways
data provider, to retrieve train information. We send only train/station/date
parameters; no personal data.
- Render — our backend is hosted on Render, which processes requests
on our behalf.
- No advertising or analytics SDKs.
Location
Railo does not access your device location. If a future version adds an optional
“nearby stations” feature, it will ask permission first and this policy will be updated.
Data retention
On-device data persists until you delete it or uninstall. Backend request logs and
cached railway responses are short-lived and used only to operate the service.
Children
Railo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Your choices
You can remove saved trains and clear recent searches at any time in the app.
Uninstalling Railo deletes all on-device data.
Security
Traffic between the app and our backend uses HTTPS. Data-provider API keys are held
server-side and never shipped in the app.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy; the “Last updated” date above reflects the latest version.
